A cocoon-like book for the bedtime ritual

I wrote 110 Tender Stories for Curious Little Hearts the way one weaves a cocoon:
a cocoon made of simple words, endearing animals, and short stories to be read in the evening, in a calm and peaceful moment just before falling asleep.

My intention was very clear: to help children put words to what they feel, without judgment, without pressure, and with a great deal of gentleness.

Each story is intentionally short.
It can be read in just a few minutes, like a reassuring pause before bedtime.
Some stories make children smile, others bring comfort, and some open the door to conversation.
They don’t impose anything; they simply suggest, leaving each child free to relate to the story ; or simply to listen.

Through these 110 stories, I wanted to create a ritual.
A shared, screen-free moment, where everyone slows down together.
A time to welcome emotions as they are, to gently become familiar with them, and to remind children that they have the right to feel, to express themselves, and to be heard.

12 lovable characters, 12 emotions to explore

In this book, each animal character explores an emotion (or an emotional nuance) in an accessible, kind and simple way.

The stories are short, independent, and designed to be read one at a time: depending on the mood of the evening, the need of the moment, or simply the time available.

Author’s note

“I wanted a book that reassures.
A book that opens a door: the door of ‘me too’.
Short, simple stories to share in the evening.”

Short stories to slow down and reconnect

These stories are not meant to “teach a lesson”.
They create a space to welcome emotions, recognize them, and sometimes talk about them.

This book can be read:

  • independently,
  • together in someone’s arms,
  • or in class / in a group to encourage discussion.

What if the characters came to life… through crochet?

To accompany this storybook, I wanted to offer a hands-on continuation: bringing the characters to life through crochet,
so they become even closer and more reassuring.

Creating a character extends the bond: children can hold it, cuddle it, and find comfort in it whenever they need.

It’s a gentle way to let emotions exist beyond words.

The perfect duo: stories to dream, crochet to create

To extend the world of 110 Tender Stories for Curious Little Hearts, you can also discover the crochet book published by
Mango Éditions, designed to create the story’s characters using chenille yarn.

Thanks to 12 simple patterns, illustrated step by step, even beginners can create soft, expressive amigurumis.

Author’s note

“I love the idea that a child can find a story character in the real world.
A small, soft companion to cuddle,
extending the bedtime ritual.

They can take them everywhere thanks to their perfectly adapted size.”

Who is this duo for?

For families, teachers, childcare professionals… and for anyone who loves to share in a different way: through reading, gentleness, and creativity.

Author’s note

“I hope these stories will find their place in your bedtime rituals,
and that these characters will become gentle little landmarks for children.”
